Terms & Conditions

Overview

1.1 Rent a Tech provides online IT support services, including both remote assistance and on-site support, which may include a drop-off option for device repairs. By using our services, clients agree to the terms outlined below.

 

Service Areas

2.1 Our on-site and drop-off services are available in Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town only.

2.2 Remote support services are available nationwide, subject to technical feasibility.

 

Payment Terms

3.1 All services must be paid up front, either via direct online booking or after receiving a formal quote.

3.2 No services will be provided before full payment is received.

 

Refund Policy

4.1 Refunds are not offered unless specifically authorised by Rent a Tech management.

4.2 If a refund is authorised, it may take up to 10 business days for processing.

 

Use of Contracted Technicians

5.1 Rent a Tech employs contract-based technicians who are dispatched based on task requirements.

5.2 While Rent a Tech vets all technicians, we are not liable for independent actions or errors made by technicians outside the assigned scope of work.

 

Privacy Policy

6.1 Rent a Tech commits to maintaining the confidentiality of client data.

6.2 Client information will not be shared with third parties without client consent, except where required by law.

 

Consultations – Cancellation and Rescheduling

7.1 Consultations must be cancelled at least 48 hours in advance to qualify for a refund.

7.2 Rescheduling requires 48 hours’ notice, with an additional fee potentially applying.

7.3 Missed appointments without prior notice will be charged in full with no refund.

 

Drop-Offs and Device Handling

8.1 Clients choosing the drop-off service must complete a device check-in form.

8.2 Rent a Tech will take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the device but is not responsible for any loss, damage, or theft.

 

Remote Support

9.1 Remote support will be conducted using TeamViewer and AnyDesk.

9.2 Clients are responsible for ensuring these programs are properly installed and configured for the session.

9.3 If remote support cannot resolve the issue due to insufficient client information, Rent a Tech is not liable and may require a new appointment at additional cost.

 

Travel Fees

10.1 Travel fees will be calculated based on distance and location of the client’s premises.

10.2 These fees must be agreed upon before any on-site service is provided.

 

Customer Responsibility

11.1 Clients are solely responsible for backing up their data prior to any service.

11.2 Rent a Tech shall not be liable for any data loss during the repair process.

11.3 Clients must provide necessary access credentials (e.g., passwords, admin rights) for device diagnostics and repair.

 

Right to Refuse Service

12.1 Rent a Tech reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service to any client for any reason, including but not limited to unlawful activity, abusive behavior, or technical limitations beyond our scope.

 

Warranty Disclaimer

13.1 Rent a Tech does not offer any warranties on repairs or services unless explicitly stated in writing.

13.2 The future functionality or performance of repaired devices cannot be guaranteed, particularly when unrelated issues exist.

 

Replacement Parts and Components

14.1 If hardware replacement is required, the cost of parts will be quoted and charged separately.

14.2 Rent a Tech may use original or third-party components. Warranties for such components are provided by the manufacturer, not Rent a Tech.

 

Uncollected Devices

15.1 Devices that are not collected within 30 days of service completion may incur storage fees or be considered abandoned.

15.2 Rent a Tech reserves the right to dispose of or repurpose uncollected devices after written notice has been provided to the client.

 

Diagnostics Fee

16.1 A non-refundable diagnostics fee applies to all devices, unless stated otherwise.

16.2 The fee is payable whether or not the client proceeds with the proposed repair.

 

Legal Compliance

17.1 Rent a Tech will not engage in or support illegal activities in the provision of services.

17.2 The client agrees that any request involving illegal software or activity will result in immediate termination of the service with no refund.

 

Miscellaneous

18.1 Rent a Tech reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

18.2 Any changes will be posted on our website, with the date of the last update clearly indicated.
